U13 Boys 1 - 1 Quarry Rovers U13 Dynamite

Home | 07 October 2018

Today we were back to our usual 10:30 kickoff on a sunny autumn Sunday morning.

We started the game very brightly, finding the spaces out wide to set up our attacks. Kyle Crothers was unlucky not to open the scoring with a good strike from the right of the box, it had the goalkeeper scrambling to turn it round the post when it looked destined for the far corner.

We dominated the early play with Wozza cutting in from the left to hit a right foot shot which only just missed the target. We came in at half time unlucky not to be leading.

The second half started as we ended the first. Felix found some space on the left and had it not been for a last ditch tackle he may well have opened his Casuals account. All of the boys worked really hard to get the breakthrough goal, Man of the match William Davies was dictating the midfield with his direct passes and breaking up the opposition attack’s. We held firm with our increasingly reliable back 3 of captain Ethan, Kyron and Saul.

It wasn’t long before Wozza found some space on the right to attack, he cut inside, beat 2 defenders and hammered home a left footed shot from close range to make it 1-0. Again we continued to press looking for the second goal, Wozza hit the crossbar direct from a corner and Tom and Jack Fostekew we’re unlucky not to increase our lead.

Quarry pressed for an equaliser, when all of a sudden the referee pointed to our penalty spot! I will need to watch the replay before I comment on his decision. With the penalty tucked away we again went chasing the winner. The Klopp fist pump came out of the locker when Tom was taken down in the box and the referee pointed to the spot. Tom stepped up but again the crossbar did all the work for the keeper to make it twice again today.

The final whistle went and we continued our unbeaten start to the league campaign. On any other day we could have won by 2 or 3 goals, I can’t help but think that someone is going to be on the receiving end of a hatful of goals very soon.

A special mention today goes to Sam Brown who came to support his team mates, he has been out injured since the summer, hope your back soon Sam. Also to those boys that worked so hard today when not playing in there usual position (Taylor)
