Rising Stars

For the little ones, Didcot Casuals FC runs the Rising Stars section, for boys and girls from 3 years old up to the age of 6 years where they can come along to learn about football in a friendly and fun atmosphere.

The children are taught basic footballing skills as well as life skills such as cooperation, helpfulness and teamwork in a pressure-free environment. Parents are actively encouraged to support their children both during the sessions and at other times by practising with them. Our qualified coaches will ensure the children learn and enjoy themselves in equal measure (contact Rob Roslyn via our Contacts Page for futher details).

As the children progress through the age groups, they will be able to take part in development matches against other clubs in the local Oxford Mail Youth Football League, with occasional trophy events. The teams will continue to play development games up to Under 11. The format will change gradually from 5v5 at U7-U8, then 7v7 at U9-U10, moving to 9v9 at U11-U12 and finally 11v11 from U13. For the girls, we can enter teams in the Oxford Mail Girls League at Under 10 (for girls aged 8 years and over).

When girls reach the age of 5 years, they have the additional option to attend the new FA SSE Wildcats sessions held at Aureus School on Saturday mornings from 11am to 12pm.

Training takes place on Saturday mornings from approximately 11.00 am for boys and girls, with FA-qualified and CRB-checked coaches. The cost of training is £1.00 per session, with the first session free.

Please ensure that you bring a drink for your child (water or squash), your child has shinpads and, if possible, football boots, and during sunny periods you bring suncream to protect your child's skin during training.

The Rising Stars sessions take place in Brasenose Park (aka Loyd Recreation Ground. Parking is in the Didcot Girls School car park entered via Manor Crescent (though please note that very occasionally, when there are large numbers of matches taking place on a Saturday morning, you may be directed to park elsewhere).
